The Arvada Optimist Club named Stephen Erholm its Officer of the Year for his contributions as the School Resource Officer at Oberon Middle School the past four years.
Officer Erholm was honored at a breakfast in late January.
Officer Erholm recently completed his assignment at Oberon Middle School where he established himself as an integral member of the school Community.
"Steve is a problem-solver," said Sgt. Jo Ann Rzeppa of the Arvada Police Department's School Services Unit. "He brought a well-balanced blend of law enforcement, intervention and education to Oberon during his assignment and truly made a difference in the lives of the students, staff and the residents living in the neighborhood surrounding the school."
A 23-year veteran of the department, Officer Erholm has worked numerous assignments during his tenure, including stints in patrol, as a motorcycle officer, hostage negotiator and as a member of the School Services Unit. In addition to his current patrol assignment, he works as a field training officer to new officers.
