Tattered Cover could open at DIA

Denver International Airport (DIA) brought a new concessions contract before Denver City Council’s Business, Workforce and Sustainability Committee Wednesday that will bring Denver’s famed Tattered Cover Book Store brand to the facility.

Community garden grand opening

On Saturday, May 12, Rose Roots, Arvada’s newest community garden along with Star Acre Farms; a local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) will celebrate their grand opening.  The event begins at 10:00 am at the Hills at Standley Lake Park, 84th and Alkire, with a grand opening presentation by members of the Arvada City Council, Sustain Arvada, and the Arvada Parks Advisory Committee. A plant sale by Star Acre Farms will follow, along with free educational talks by local gardeners, storytelling for children and a ladybug release.  Tours of the garden and farm will take place at 10:30 am and at 1:30 pm and Star Acre Farms will present a draft horse demonstration. Food will be available for purchase from HarvestDenver and AikoPops food trucks.

Forest Service says Christmas tree cutting could be dangerous

The U.S. Forest Service is warning Christmas tree cutters to be careful in national forests this holiday season because of high winds and the possibility of falling trees.

Forest managers say they may close some tree-cutting areas if conditions become too dangerous.

The completion of Beeman Park is the product of neighborhood meetings leading to a master plan with a picnic pavilion, boulder climbing, open play – turf, landscape, trails and tunnels.

Funding came from Park Development Fees, from Village Homes and Capital improvement Funds – all approved by City Council.
