Gov. Hickenlooper to sign bill making Goodwill a Checkoff Colorado charity

Gov. Hickenlooper to sign bill making Goodwill a Checkoff Colorado charity

On Wednesday, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper will sign House Bill 11-1097, making Goodwill one of just 15 non-profits Coloradans can choose to donate to on their state income tax return.  Checkoff Colorado is a program that allows taxpayers to make voluntary contributions to their favorite charitable organizations when they file their state income tax return.

During this time of economic need, allowing Coloradans to support Goodwill’s workforce development programs by making a voluntary contribution on their state income tax returns will have tremendous return and economic benefit across the state.

With 13 wedding dresses to sew and just days to go before the fashion show, Deedee and Justin Vicory's design and alteration studio was a whirl of activity.

Seamstresses ran dresses through sewing machines or pinned layers of lace and gauze to mannequins while Justin Vicory took business calls. Deedee tended to a customer as she tried on her tailored wedding dress for the last time before her upcoming wedding.

"Yeah, it's been a little crazy in here," Deedee Vicory said with a smile.
